Why prevention is better than cure

Osteopathy emphasizes prevention because it focuses on addressing the root causes of health problems before they escalate into chronic conditions and promoting overall well-being.

How do we do this?

  • Holistic Approach:

The foundations of Osteopathy is taking a holistic view of the body. Osteopaths recognize that dysfunction in one area can impact other parts of the system. This holistic perspective allows Osteopaths to identify and address underlying issues, before they manifest as more chronic conditions which take longer to heal.

  • Preventing Recurrences:

Osteopathic treatments can not only help alleviate existing conditions or pain but also help prevent those injuries reoccurring in the future. Osteopaths can help improve muscle strength, flexibility, and posture, making individuals less susceptible to injury, by addressing underlying imbalances.

  • Maintaining Optimal Function:

Regular Osteopathic treatments (MOT) can help maintain the body's natural ability to heal and adapt to changes, preventing the development of long-term problems. How regular someone has an ‘MOT’ for preventative care looks different for each individual depending on where they get their pain, what’s is causing it and their lifestyle to name a few things. From my experience over the years I’ve noticed the most common timeframe in which a person comes for an MOT if they choose, is once every 4-8 weeks.

  • Lifestyle Advice:

Osteopaths can also provide advice on lifestyle choices like postural correction, ergonomics, and exercise, to help patients prevent future injuries.
